Clash of Clones

VR Prototype Project

Clash of Clones was a prototype I built in 2016 to experiment with the real time strategy genre in VR, first with Samsung Gear VR on mobile, then with the HTC Vive. The core idea is the same as the popular mobile game Clash Royale where your minions attack 3 enemy bases, and your job as the player is to place units into the battlefield in the right place at the right time, carefully managing mana in the process.

While the prototype did not develop into a full game, I enjoyed developing VR solutions for problems that did not have common or well-understood solutions at the time, like how to place units into the world in a way that felt tangible, like a board game.

I was also able to implement a flexible component-based unit creation system, ideas from which I’ve applied to later projects.
